How We Work:

  • Each Member commits to donating $100 per meeting, four times a year - 4 consecutive meetings from the date of joining. (We don't want anyone feeling left out, therefore have decided that if you are unable to come up with the $100 donation/ 4 times a year, you can form a "mini" alliance with a friend or family member and split the donation. Just remember, only one of you can join as a member and only one can vote, but you are more than welcome to collaborate as a group when choosing your charity and can take turns getting the tax receipt! Of course, you will all be welcome at the meetings!)
  • Meetings are diligently conducted in one hour or less.
  • Any member who has registered by signing a Commitment Form and who is current with her donations may nominate an organization for consideration at a meeting.
  • Representatives from the three randomly selected organizations (chosen prior to the meeting) will make a five-minute presentation about the organization to the group.
  • Each registered member who is current with her donations may vote (by ballot) for one of the three organizations. Any ties will be decided by a draw.
  • Each member will write a cheque for $100 to the organization receiving the most votes. Cash, in a sealed envelope with your name and address, is also permitted.
  • The selected organization will receive a group donation of $10,000 or more!
  • Members who did not vote for the selected organization agree to make their donation regardless.
  • Members will receive a tax receipt directly from the organization.
  • Members who are unable to attend a meeting are obligated to give their cheque (or cash) to another Member to deliver on their behalf.

  • Organizations under consideration must serve the communities of Kings County and provide individual tax receipts directly to contributing members.
  • An organization not selected at one meeting may be submitted again at a subsequent meeting.
  • A successful organization will be eligible for future consideration after a 2-year period.
  • The selected organization must agree to not give out member information to any third parties except for tax purposes.
  • Each meeting will have a five-minute update by the successful organization on how the funds donated at the previous meeting were used.  This will occur while we are counting the votes.
